ベトナム戦争へ向けて 〈What a wonderful world〉直訳

作られたのは1968年。何を想って作詞・作曲のボブ・シールが作ったかというと、ベトナム戦争でした。
以下、アワライ直訳の歌詞です。

I see trees of green　緑の木々を見る。
red roses, too　赤いバラも。
I see them bloom for me and you　私とあなたのために咲くバラを見る。
And I think to myself　そしてひとり想う。なんて素晴らしい世界なんだ。
"What a wonderful world !"

I see skies of blue　青い空
and clouds of white　白い雲を見る
On the bright sunny day,　輝く晴れた日に
or in the dark sacred night　暗く聖なる夜に
And I think to myself　そしてひとり想う。
"What a wonderful world !"　なんて素晴らしい世界なんだ。

I see the colors of the rainbow 空のとてもきれいな虹の色を見た
so pretty in the sky　
And also on the faces 人々の行き交う顔も
of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands　「こんにちわ」と友人が握手するのを見た
sayin' "How do you do?"
I know they're really saying 　彼らは「I love you」って、心から言っているんだ
"I love you"

I hear babies cry 赤ん坊が泣いている
I watch them grow　彼らが育つのを見る
I know they'll learn 私が今までに知ったことよりもずっと多くのことを
